As creator of BizVocabularyBuilder, I follow a few fundamental principles: - We try to minimize the collection personal information and store it only as long as we have a reason to keep it. - We are thoughtful about the personal information we ask you to provide and the personal information that we collect about you through the operation of our services - you will be surprised how little in comparison to other operators. - We aim for full transparency on how we gather, use, and share your personal information.
Below is our Privacy Policy, it applies to information that we collect about you when you use: our app (BizVocabularyBuilder) or this website.
Throughout this Privacy Policy we’ll refer to our website and mobile application collectively as “Services.”
Information You Provide to Us First of all, we do not collect any email or account name information. You can use our services completely anonymously.
For a better understanding and tailoring the vocabulary in our app to learners' needs, we ask and collect the following information:
Basic user information We ask for some basic information from you in order to better understand where you stand in your learning process. These are for example, what language you intend to learn, what your current skill level in that language is or in what foreign countries you have lived long term. All this information is voluntary. Providing or not providing this information does not create differences in regard to what functions of the Services you can use. We also ask you for a nickname, however you are free to choose any kind of name you like.
We do not require any account name or password to use the Services.
We keep a record of the information you provide voluntarily.
Communications with us (hi there!) You may also provide us with information when you provide suggestions for new words to include in the Services. This is done via an email created from the Services. For this email, the iPhone application BizVocabularyBuilder will use the email you have set up as your iPhone standard email account. This being an address identifying you (e.g. firstname.secondname@icloud.com etc.), we might learn your identity. When you communicate with us via form or email, we store a copy of our communications.
Information We Collect Automatically We also collect some, limited information automatically: the date and time of access, starting and ending times when you take tests, the answers you give in these testsessions, custom word lists you are creating and similar - but always without identifying personal information.
Location information We do not collect location data, also not your IP address, geotags or similar.
Purposes for Using Information We use the above mentioned information collection to better tailor our Services to potential users and to customize the user experience.
Sharing Information At the moment we simply do not share your information.
At some point in the future, we might share aggregated information, that is information with no identifying data, with third parties. For example, we might publish that based on thousands of testsessions the words A, B, C are on average the most difficult to study for German native speakers, or similar. We might make statements about groups or general results; not about the learning or testing behavior of any individual.
Legal and regulatory requirements We may disclose information about you in response to a subpoena, court order, or other governmental request.
To protect rights, property, and others We may disclose information about you when we believe in good faith that disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect our property or rights, third parties, or the public at large.
Business transfers In connection with any merger, sale of assets, or acquisition of all or a portion of our operation by another company, or in the event that BizVocabularyBuilder goes out of business or enters bankruptcy, user information would likely be one of the assets that is transferred or acquired by a third party. If any of these events were to happen, this Privacy Policy would continue to apply to your information and the party receiving your information may continue to use your information, but only consistent with this Privacy Policy.
With your consent We may share and disclose information with your consent or at your direction. For example, we may share your information with third parties when you authorize us to do so. Sending us suggestions including example sentences and explanations of words not currently included in the database is understood as full consent and fully granting us all and any transferable right on the information you provide us.
European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) If you are located in a country that falls under the scope of the GDPR, data protection laws give you certain rights with respect to your personal data, subject to any exemptions provided by the law, including the rights to: Request access to your personal data; Request correction or deletion of your personal data; Object to our use and processing of your personal data; Request that we limit our use and processing of your personal data; and Request portability of your personal data. You also have the right to make a complaint to a government supervisory authority. Because our Services are offered worldwide, the information about you that we process when you use the Services in the EU may be used, stored, and/or accessed by individuals operating outside the European Economic Area (EEA) who work for us, or third-party data processors. When providing information about you to entities outside the EEA, we will take appropriate measures to ensure that the recipient protects your personal information adequately in accordance with this Privacy Policy as required by applicable law.
California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) The California Consumer Privacy Act (“CCPA”) requires us to provide California residents with some additional information about the categories of personal information we collect and share, where we get that personal information, and how and why we use it. The CCPA also requires us to provide a list of the “categories” of personal information we collect, as that term is defined in the law, so, here it is. In the last 12 months, we collected the following categories of personal information from California residents: email address and name of a person emailing us directly. No other personal data can be traced back to California users.
Contacting Us About These Rights You can usually access, correct, or delete your personal data using the user page in the iPhone app, but if you aren’t able to or you’d like to contact us about one of the other rights, contact us by email to mail@bizvocabularybuilder.com
